Shri Vishnu Dev Puja Samagri refers to the collection of sacred items used in the worship of Lord Vishnu, one of the principal deities in Hinduism, known for his role as the protector and preserver of the universe. The Samagri, which means ‘materials for worship’, is a set of items that are essential to performing the puja rituals properly and with devotion. The Samagri for Vishnu Puja typically includes items that are both symbolic and practical in nature, each contributing to the spiritual and material aspects of the ritual.

First and foremost, the worship involves offerings of flowers, particularly the fragrant marigold, which is often used as an offering to Lord Vishnu due to its association with purity and beauty. Tulsi (holy basil) leaves are also essential, as they are considered extremely sacred and pleasing to Lord Vishnu. These leaves are often placed on the idol of Vishnu during the puja as a mark of respect and devotion. Another key item is the oil lamp, or diya, which is lit during the puja to represent the dispelling of darkness and the triumph of light over ignorance. A clean brass or silver vessel filled with water, often called a Kalash, is used in the ritual to signify prosperity and abundance.

In addition to these offerings, a variety of grains like rice, barley, and wheat are used. These grains symbolize sustenance and the cycle of life. Incense sticks (agarbattis) and sandalwood paste are used to purify the surroundings and create an atmosphere of sanctity. The worship also involves the use of sacred red or yellow cloths to drape the deity’s idol, creating a visual representation of purity and reverence.

Further, during the Vishnu Puja, devotees use items like fruits, especially bananas and coconuts, which are symbolic of prosperity and the bounty of life. Ghee (clarified butter) is another essential ingredient, as it is used for the ritualistic offerings of fire, or ‘havan’. The chanting of sacred mantras such as the Vishnu Sahasranama (the thousand names of Lord Vishnu) is integral to the puja, and devotees also employ the use of sacred bells, conch shells (Shankha), and musical instruments during the rituals.

The preparation of Shri Vishnu Dev Puja Samagri is done with utmost care and devotion, as these items are believed to carry the blessings and energy of Lord Vishnu, ensuring the protection, prosperity, and well-being of the devotee.
