MAA TARINI PUJA SAMAGRI KIT

Maa Tarini, a revered manifestation of Shakti and one of the most prominent goddesses in Odisha, is worshipped with deep devotion by countless followers. The puja dedicated to Maa Tarini is a sacred occasion, especially among devotees who seek her blessings for courage, protection, and prosperity. The proper arrangement of puja samagri (ritual items) is essential to perform her worship with devotion and precision. Each item used holds spiritual significance and helps invoke the divine presence of the goddess. The primary puja samagri includes a murti or image of Maa Tarini, ideally placed on a clean wooden platform or altar, which is thoroughly cleaned and decorated with fresh flowers and colored cloth.

The puja thali should contain kumkum (vermilion) and haldi (turmeric), which are offered on the idol as symbols of purity and divine energy. Sandalwood paste (chandan) is also applied to the deity and used in the ritual for its cooling and purifying effect. Fresh red flowers, especially hibiscus, are essential as Maa Tarini is believed to be especially fond of red blossoms. Red cloth or saree, offered to the goddess during the puja, signifies power and devotion. Other essential items include diyas (oil lamps) filled with pure gheeincense sticks (agarbatti), and camphor for performing arati and creating a divine ambiance.

Offerings in the form of naivedya (food) are prepared, which may include ricefruitscoconutbananajaggery, and sweets like khira (rice pudding) or chhena poda (a traditional Odia sweet). A kalash (sacred pot) filled with water, mango leaves, and topped with a coconut is placed near the deity to signify abundance and divine energy. Holy water (Ganga jal) or clean water is sprinkled around the area for purification. Mouli (sacred thread)betel leavesbetel nuts, and cloves are used as part of the offerings. Some devotees also offer red sindoordhoop, and havan samagri if a fire ritual is included.

The puja concludes with the recitation of Maa Tarini stotra or mantras, ringing of the ghanti (bell), and the distribution of prasada to all present. Every item used in the Maa Tarini puja is a humble expression of devotion and serves to deepen the spiritual connection with the goddess, inviting her divine blessings into the devotee’s life.
