Kuber Puja Samagri: Ritual Items for Invoking Wealth and Prosperity

Kuber Puja is a sacred ritual dedicated to Lord Kuber, the Hindu god of wealth, prosperity, and abundance. Performing this puja is believed to invite financial stability, success in business ventures, and an overall increase in material wealth. Lord Kuber is considered the treasurer of the gods, and worshiping him with the right devotion and offerings helps remove obstacles to wealth and grants blessings for prosperity. The Kuber Puja samagri (ritual items) used during this puja are essential to create an atmosphere of sanctity and invite the blessings of Lord Kuber into one’s life.

The core item required for Kuber Puja is a Puja Thali, which holds all the necessary offerings and symbolizes a pure, sacred space. Lord Kuber’s idol or image is placed in the center of the thali or altar. This idol is typically depicted with a pot of gold, symbolizing wealth, and sometimes holding a mace, representing power and protection. The puja begins by lighting a diya (lamp), usually made of ghee or oil, to signify the arrival of divine light and to dispel darkness and negativity from one’s life.

Incense sticks (agarbattis) are also an important offering in Kuber Puja, as the fragrance purifies the environment and enhances the spiritual atmosphere, inviting positive energies. Flowers, particularly marigolds or roses, are offered to Lord Kuber to symbolize respect, devotion, and the beauty of the universe. The roli (vermilion) and chawal (rice grains) are used to apply a tilak to the idol or image of Lord Kuber, as well as to mark the foreheads of the devotees, invoking divine blessings for wealth and prosperity.

Fruits such as bananas, pomegranates, or coconuts are also offered during the puja as symbols of prosperity and abundance. Sweets, especially laddus or barfis, are offered as prashad (sacred food) to the deity, as it is believed that the act of offering food to the deity results in blessings of material and spiritual wealth. Kumkum and sindoor are used to mark the deity’s idol and represent auspiciousness and purity.

In addition, gold or silver coins, or any form of currency, can be placed on the puja thali to signify wealth and invoke Lord Kuber’s blessings for financial prosperity. Water is also used to purify the space and the offerings, ensuring that the puja is conducted with reverence and purity. Some devotees also keep a small pot or urn filled with rice or grains as a symbol of abundance and the desire for continuous prosperity.
