Tripur Sundari Puja is a revered ritual dedicated to Goddess Tripur Sundari, a manifestation of the Divine Mother, associated with beauty, grace, and protection. The puja samagri used in this ceremony is crucial for invoking the goddess’s blessings for spiritual growth, prosperity, and protection from negative influences. The central element of the puja is the idol or image of Goddess Tripur Sundari, which is placed on a clean, sacred platform, usually accompanied by a diya (oil lamp) or ghee lamp, symbolizing the dispelling of darkness and the invitation of divine light.
The puja thali is prepared with essential items such as kumkum (vermilion), turmeric (haldi), and chandan (sandalwood paste), which are used for marking auspiciousness and offering prayers. The goddess is traditionally worshipped with fresh flowers, particularly lotus flowers, representing purity, beauty, and divine energy. Akshata (rice mixed with turmeric) is also offered, symbolizing purity and prosperity, while fruits like bananas, coconuts, and pomegranates are placed as offerings, symbolizing abundance and fertility.
A kalash (sacred pot) filled with clean water, topped with mango leaves and a coconut, is an important part of the ritual, invoking the goddess’s presence and blessings. Holy water (Ganga jal) is often sprinkled on the idol, the surrounding area, and the participants to purify the environment and prepare it for divine energy. Betel leaves and betel nuts are offered, representing respect and devotion to the goddess, along with cloves, cardamom, and cinnamon, which are used for their pleasant aroma and auspicious qualities.
For the havan (sacred fire ritual), havan samagri including herbs, ghee, and wood are required to ignite the fire and offer prayers to the goddess. Incense sticks (agarbatti) and dhoop are also lit to purify the atmosphere and attract positive energies. A mouli (sacred red thread) is tied around the idol or participants’ wrists as a symbol of protection and connection to the divine.
The puja is also accompanied by the chanting of mantras, especially Tripur Sundari Stotra or other sacred hymns, to invoke the goddess’s blessings for health, wealth, and spiritual fulfillment. These offerings and preparations, combined with deep devotion, create an environment conducive to receiving the goddess’s divine grace.
