Manokamna Siddhi Puja is a highly revered Hindu ritual performed to fulfill one’s wishes, desires, or personal goals. The ritual is believed to invoke the blessings of deities, particularly Lord Ganesha, Goddess Lakshmi, and other divine beings, to bring success, prosperity, and the fulfillment of aspirations. The Manokamna Siddhi Puja Samagri Kit contains a variety of sacred items required to perform the puja with devotion and auspiciousness. The primary item in this kit is the idol or picture of Lord Ganesha, as he is considered the remover of obstacles and the god of beginnings. A kalash (sacred pot) filled with water, topped with mango leaves and a coconut is also included, symbolizing abundance and divine blessings.
The kit typically contains turmeric powder (haldi), vermilion (kumkum), and sandalwood paste (chandan), all of which are used during the offering process to invoke purity and auspiciousness. Akshata (rice mixed with turmeric) is essential in the puja, as it is used to offer prayers and ensure the fulfillment of desires. Ghee is used for lighting the ghee lamp (diya), which is placed in front of the deity to signify the removal of darkness and the arrival of light and prosperity. Camphor is also burned during the puja to purify the environment and invite positive energy.
Flowers such as marigold or jasmine, which are considered auspicious, are included for decoration and as offerings. Fruits, especially coconuts, bananas, and apples, are essential in the offering, symbolizing prosperity and gratitude. The presence of betel leaves and betel nuts adds an element of respect and devotion in the ritual. Mouli (sacred red thread) is tied around the idol or around the devotee’s wrist to invoke divine protection and blessings. Holy water (often Ganga jal) is used to purify the space and the offerings.
To further enhance the sacredness of the puja, the kit may include incense sticks (agarbatti), dhoop, and a small bell to signal the start of the ritual. Havan samagri may be included in some kits, for those who wish to conduct a fire offering (havan) as part of the puja. Finally, the sacred mantra or a puja book containing the specific prayers and chants for Manokamna Siddhi Puja is typically included to guide the devotee through the ritual and ensure proper worship of the deities.
